You got a minute?

 Jerry J. Klein, RDT

Joan Rivers the famous comedian would have an opening line “You got a minute? Can we talk?” So I have decided to name my new monthly column “You got a minute?” My monthly column will have information related to our new web site, seminars and other matters related to technical continuing education. Please feel free to post your response to any of my columns. Simply click on "Post a Response". You can also view the previous reponses to any column as well. I hope that you will enjoy my column, return to it often and share it with others.

Impression Taking, Denture Repairs and other Topics of Interest to Technologists

We are all aware of the increasing reponsibility thrust upon dental technologists today by dentists and their patients wanting optimium results as quickly and conveniently as possible. It is essential that dental technologists take action now to ensure that they have the skills that are necessary to satisfy the demands of their clients now and in the future. For this reason, Jerry Klein RDT, Education Coordinator for the ADTO will be presenting along with Les Kravitz, Laboratory Sales Manager at Henry Schein Ash Arcona, seminars with topics such as Impression Taking and Denture Repairs. Dental Technologists will want to ensure that they sign up for these valuable seminars ASAP. Please return to the Spring Seminars Page in the near future for complete seminar outline and schedule. As you may be aware,  the Association of Dental Technologists of Ontario is becoming  more visible to the dental community not only in Ontario but across Canada. I'm sure everyone is pleased with this. Our new website has played a role in this as we are getting a more requests for posting different articles and seminars on our site. Many of the associations, educational institutions  and industry members who  provide educational seminars are inviting us to have a booth at their venues too. This includes the ODA Spring Meeting,  the Winter Clinic, OCO Integration Seminar, the Cosmetic Dentistry Association meetings , International  Dental Congress and more.  We will attend and set up booths at as many venues as we can. One of the most popular and successful educational and social events  for technicians is Technorama which occurs on Friday and Saturday May 9th and 10th 2008. We will have a booth at this important event and we look forward to have the opportunity to meet and discuss ideas, issues and goals of our association with our colleagues. I am pleased to report that we have also been asked to give a presentation at this event. Tom Williams, our webmaster, will be giving a PowerPoint presentation to ADTO members, technicians and the industry on how they can use the features on the ADTO website to find jobs, employees, seminars, sell their used supplies and more.
Also, I would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday and a prosperous New Year.
